We've Got Answers
to all your questions.

(Well, not all of them. We can’t figure out #4 on that ECON final either.)

What is Alight?

It’s a high-quality apartment community designed especially with LSU students in mind. Alight features a variety of spacious, furnished apartments with available hardwood-style floors, Wi-Fi and in-unit laundry, plus a full set of community features such as a luxurious clubhouse, fitness center, pool and more. All just a 10-minute walk from LSU, plus Tiger Trails bus service to campus just a block away.

Is Alight part of Louisiana State University?

Alight is a privately owned and professionally managed community. Click here for more information about the management and ownership.

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Alight has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom. What is included in the rate?

Each resident at Alight pays a flat rate that includes:

  • A full set of furniture
  • Wi-fi throughout the community, plus plug-in Internet in each bedroom
  • Water/sewer, trash removal
  • Washer and dryer in each apartment
  • 24-hour on-site management
  • Community features — pool, fitness center, etc.
What size are the apartments?

The spacious accommodations at Alight range from two bedrooms to four bedrooms.

Are private bathrooms available?

Yes, all of the apartments at Alight feature private bedroom-bathroom suites.

Are the apartments furnished?

Yes, all apartments at Alight include a furniture package including a full-size bed, dresser, desk and chair in each bedroom, a leather-style sofa and lounge chair, end table, coffee table and entertainment stand in each living room, plus a dining set. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model apartments.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 15, 2023 to July 28, 2024, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates may be available; please inquire with our staff. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

Each resident must pay an administrative fee within 7 days after signing the Housing Agreement. This fee is reduced significantly if the resident provides a qualifying guarantor (often a parent) for their financial obligations under Housing Agreement.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Alight also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at Alight?

Your living costs at Alight can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Alight. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is Alight open to non-students?

Alight Baton Rouge is designed and offered for students at LSU, Southern University and other local colleges. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Therefore, applications are accepted only from students at one of these local colleges or universities. Nonetheless, Alight is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes student residents with children, with adjusted occupancy limits.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

Alight has monitored fire sprinklers, secure building entry, deadbolts on each front door and individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times, plus security cameras are located in certain areas. Management staff are also on-site 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

Alight is pet-friendly in select apartments, with required registration, deposit and fee, and subject to limits on animals and breed. The community is smoke-free in all indoor areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of apartment-mates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at Alight?

Alight offers free surface parking for residents; space is limited.

What other transportation options will I have?

Alight is just a half-mile from the LSU campus. Walk the short distance in 10 minutes or bike it in less. On rainy days, the Tiger Trails bus stop is just a block away and LSU students ride free.

Can I see a model apartment?

Yes. Please request an appointment for a personal tour, or just stop by to see us and we’ll be happy to show you the community.
